The weather is finally getting nicer in most parts of the country. It’s been a slow go in the PNW! We are all craving sun and it is finally happening. There are likely a few cool days still ahead in May and June, but it’s this time of year that I really sit back and evaluate what I have and where the wardrobe gaps are.
Everyone always wants to know “what is in” for spring. I’m seeing lots of texture, smocking on dresses and eyelet in particular with tops, Puffed, billowy and flutter sleeves are still a thing but maybe not quite as exaggerated as when they first came out . I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much green in a season! Kelly green (actually all shades of green) are everywhere. Lavender and many shades of pink are also popular.
White denim is very current for spring and shades of ecru is definitely making more of a statement. Blazers, shackets and all kinds of light weight jackets are extremely popular. I’ve been referring to these jackets as an “extension of a top” because they are so lightweight they really seem like more of a top than a third piece. Look for frayed edges in jackets too. I wore constantly this olive jacket constantly last fall!
I have a similar weight in purple and this spring I got one in khaki. I love the comfort and how it pulls an outfit together, yet has a more casual vibe than a blazer (although I love those too!) If you are not a jacket person, take another look this season. You’ll find new styles with lightweight fabrics like linen (that you don’t have to iron) and blends that I think you’ll really enjoy wearing. Must have in a jacket? A little spandex. I won’t buy one without it because I want that “give”. I found these lightweight jackets at the boutique where I work part- time. Denim jackets are still around –some are referred to as trucker jackets. I still like all the choices from Kut from the Kloth and Liverpool jackets are always a favorite. My favorite jacket from Wit & Wisdom is back. I still recommend it above any other if you are looking for something light weight, stretchy and shorter to go with a dress. As I said in my Facebook group when I posted it… do not delay. It won’t last. Trust me on this one!

Tops
During the two seasons of Covid, I didn’t buy many tops. I made it up for it in 2022 and this year I was really surprised with the choices I found at Amazon for under $30. There is nothing like a new top or two to give your wardrobe some new life.
