Meet Stylist, Karen Herrema

Elementary School Teacher. Home Business Owner. Personal Stylist/Retail.

These stepping stones in my career path brought me to where I am today. For the past decade, I’ve worked with women of all ages TEACHING them how to LOOK, FEEL and DRESS their best.

My husband and I have lived in the Portland, Oregon area for 32 years where we raised our family.

After years of helping friends and family, Style by Karen was created in 2008. Hours of stylist training/certification came next and I started helping women in their homes while writing this blog.

From 2010-2017 my fashion career took a “detour” while my kids were in college. I worked at two local boutiques and Nordstrom as a Personal Stylist. In 2013 the blog went on hold while I perfected my craft in the retail setting.

I sold thousands of dollars of clothing in those retail years. But I always felt there was a missing piece with my customers–seeing their closets. It made me more passionate than ever about the need women have to define their style, organize their closets BEFORE buying more.

I enjoy working one on one. We sit around the table and talk. I get to know you and all the factors that make you who you are and how that applies to your wardrobe. Then we organize and purge if necessary. We will create new combinations, accessorize and shop to fill the gaps–either in person or online. The result: a streamlined closet full of clothes that WORK. I’ve accomplished my goal when women use what they own to the fullest, and can feel confident every time they walk out of the house. It’s an amazing, gratifying process for us both!

I’ve also been working with a few long distance clients over the last several months, and am excited to add that to my services!

I’m happy to be back–Teaching busy women Fashion/Style tips through my writing, speaking to women’s groups and helping women in their homes. Simply said … I love to shop, love to write and love to share my expertise and teach women how to be the best they can be.
