How to Create Dressy-Casual Holiday Outfits

It’s that time of year! Holiday parties and get togethers fill up our calendar. Whether it be dressy or casual it’s fun to put together something for your event. I know you may be questioning my choice of words there. I realize it may not be your idea of FUN! Life gets busy, there is no time to shop and put something together. It turns stressful.

Last weekend a client asked me to help her find an outfit for her birthday celebration in December. She didn’t want to wait until the last minute. We were able to take advantage of good selection and this is what she chose.

INSIDER TIP: Nordstrom will likely offer a deeper discount off their clearance on Black Friday. Holiday pieces go fast so if you are a card holder-schedule a point day and shop now.  Stella & Dot: DO NOT SHOP my site until Black Friday. Book mark this post for later.

The pants are the cropped flare and she liked these because they were different and I agreed. We actually found one in a coated denim, but they have since sold out (yes, in just one week!) I’ve highlighted a similar choice. The tricky part with this silhouette is getting the right shoe. You don’t need a HIGH heel, but they look so much better with a heel and pointed toe shoe or boot.

Well since this is what I do, I did have FUN creating some other looks for you. Following the good old rules of COLOR, TEXTURE, PATTERN and SHINE, here are some different choices using the trends of animal print–particularly snakeskin, coated denim, and faux fur!

  1. Halogen tank//2. Kut from the Kloth denim//3. Liverpool coated denim jacket//4. Liverpool faux leather jacket// 5. Ritz earrings//6. Regency Necklace//7. 1901 stretch boot//8 Maven wristlet

NOTES: The tuxedo stripe on the denim is a trend we’ve seen the last couple of years. I couldn’t decide on which jacket I liked better so I featured two. The regency necklace separates and you can wear it together or as 2 completely different necklaces. It’s beautiful in person.

Next week I’ll feature some dressier looks and share my outfit for an upcoming party once I have it put together!

Do you have a holiday party to attend or will it just be casual get-togethers at home? Which one of the looks above is your favorite?
