Holiday Outfit Formulas

The easiest was to create your holiday outfit is to think of the formula concept. Once you have the formula you can go and find the pieces that fit the occasion and your personal style. I used this concept to show last year as well. I’ve changed them up a bit and added current links

Earrings//Lip//Bag//Sweater//Jeans//Necklace #1//Necklace #2//Boots

I chose this formula because most everyone has a black sweater. I like black with a lighter wash denim because of the contrast. Lighter denim is fine any time of year by the way. You can substitute any color of sweater, change the color of boot and change up the jewelry, but at a quick glance you can see a very simple formula of sweater & jeans has been leveled up with the layered jewelry, the bag and the boots. I tried to find a good belt with just a touch of embellishment(which would be another nice addition) but so many things were limited in sizes. Good grief, everyone is buying belts again I guess which is a good thing!

You could even vary this formula with a simple off -the shoulder sweater, and a cropped flare jean.

Treasure and Bond Sweater

Here is how I took this formula and made it my own in 2021 and then changed it up this year in 2022 with a bootcut.

2021. Most of the jewelry is no longer available, but similar styles are. And I still wear these skinny jeans!
I’m wearing all the jewelry shown above. The Boot Cut jeans are NYDJ and they will look better just a little shorter. The release hem allows me to trim a little bit without losing the look of the unique hemline. I will like with the black boot shown above when mine arrive!
And I found a simple black belt at White House Black Market

Next, taking it up a level. There are so many tops that have a touch of embellishment or even a little shimmer in the thread. Refer to my widget from the last post. I know several will be gone, but new things are arriving. I quickly ran into White House Black Market and Evereve on Saturday. The selection is still great at both stores.

Here’s how I took this formula and created a variation. You don’t have to stick with the typical red, green and burgundy. I found this cobalt blue at WHBM. It ties in the back. I left it long and loose, but it would also look great in a bow. I paired with my coated denim vs velvet but either would work. My Cabi order came. They do a great belt every season and this one is just the best! I’m wearing the Uma earrings.

Coated Denim is selling super fast everywhere. There are still many options left, but more at the higher price point. The Good American pair I linked are still available in all sizes. If they are sold out by the time you read this, do a search on your favorite sites for coated denim or do a general google search.

Here is last year’s pics with the sequin tops. I’m regretting not keeping the gold. This year Halogen has the same style, but different colors. Yet, it didn’t fit me as well. I’m not sure if they changed the style or I changed. LOL! I’ll be showing photos of the sequin tops when I share the final outfits I’ve chosen.

Enjoy the hunt for your holiday pieces. Remember I’m here to help you. Thank you for reading!
