How to Choose your “Go-To” Necklaces

I’ve written posts previously on how to pair jewelry with different outfits. I’m often asked what goes into choosing jewelry for an outfit. In keeping with the simplicity and the travel theme I seem to be on, I thought it would be a good idea to discuss how to pick those “go-to” pieces that coordinate with almost everything.

  1. These are also the same pieces you need in your jewelry collection for travel.

     2.  In addition it’s a very key component in planning your capsule wardrobe.

(By the way, I’m practicing the capsule concept myself and should be ready to report back next week)

Recently a reader had a question about a jewelry travel capsule. I have really pared down what I bring on a trip. However,  I still pack too much and wear only a portion. I always lay out jewelry pieces with my clothes when I pack. If time doesn’t allow for that, I suggest building your jewelry wardrobe with these “go with everything” pieces. You only need a few necklaces that can be worn with all outfits you pack.

SHORT VERSATILE NECKLACES

Many clients I work with do not care for the look of a longer necklace, or it can get in their way at work. Below are some suggestions for simple pieces that can also be layered if you like. I suggest having a gold (yellow or rose) silver and mixed metal. I always like gold with warmer colors and silver with cool colors, but there are NO rules. If you just prefer one metal, stick with that. I chose things that aren’t too delicate, will catch the light and still stand out in that “sweet spot” on your neck.

Some of my favorite brands are included and you may see other things when browsing these links. It’s hard for me to choose! Most are available in a choice of metals/colors. All of these are super packable and will go with anything! Most necklaces for that sweet spot are 16-18 inches and have 2-3 inch extenders.  (choices for shorter or longer lengths)

Who doesn’t like a Special?

-Get #9 for 14.99 with a $75 purchase

-#5 is a little longer than the others shown but also linked with a Valentine special. (BOGO 25% off) The site prompts you when you place things in your bag.

Engravable and bar necklaces are so on trend. In fact I gave my daughter-in-law #5 for Christmas (engraved with initials on one piece, wedding date on the other) and she gave me a bar necklace similar to #3 engraved with the coordinates of my home town. Great minds think alike!

LONGER VERSATILE NECKLACES

I almost always wear a longer necklace, but lifestyle and personal taste truly dictate that.

Note:

#4 is a versatile piece that is a 3-in 1. This means that you can wear each piece alone too! I love the flexibility.

#3 comes in 5 different variations. Search REBEL on the site.

Charms and Engravables

And last, another popular trend we are seeing is the layering of charms. Here is a line at Nordstrom NASHELLE that is new to me. You can check out all the options via the link,
