Spring Trends 2018

The first spring fashion trend I covered this year was the bell sleeve. I appreciated your feedback. In short, I think it’s fair to say that many of you are willing to give it a try for a date night top OR if the sleeve was short or three-quarter length.

On to the next trends. How do I decide if a trend is post worthy? I want this blog to be a source for you to glean your info quickly. Many of the articles are devoted to high fashion (the runway). I’m always going to steer towards the practical. I look for patterns between blogs, magazines and stores.

The Pantone color of the year is Ultra Violet.

Yet, we are seeing a lot of lighter purple–more of a lavender. Pastels made their way back a couple of years ago. Many of us questioned how we would wear them. Now we’ve embraced blush as the perfect neutral alongside white and cream.

But, I have to be honest—lavender is not a favorite color for me personally, yet I’m really loving the fresh look when I see it on other women! I think it’s a great shade to style and like the deep contrast with black or navy. You know the color is in when you see lavender shoes and fit bit bands! (See collage below)

OTHER TRENDS:

-Tops with cut-outs and chokers. (Note that I did not choose to show photos of a cold shoulder because that’s been around the last year or so.)

-Tops with a twist. I actually really like this trend. I think it gives an ordinary top some interest and symmetry.

-Floral, feminine blouses.

And in case you haven’t noticed… tops are getting shorter. I think the change from long tunic to shorter will be gradual. Let’s hope!

I tried to choose photos that incorporate all the trends from lavender to the bell sleeve, to florals, cutouts and twists.

And remember, you don’t have to try every trend. Lavender will not be coming in my closet, but instead I will choose a more saturated shade of purple. How about you? What piques your interest?
