How to Choose Transition Pieces for Spring

It’s that time of year. The calendar is inching its way towards spring, and we are all growing tired of our winter clothes. Yet it is still cold in many areas. Good grief, we had snow yesterday!

I went shopping on the weekend to see what I could find in stores that would work for this transition post. Spring fashion is arriving in stores and there are many perfect transition pieces. I took a bunch of pieces home from Nordstrom and the Nordstrom Rack to do a try-on session for you!

LOOK #1:

Jackets are always my weakness and there are many options. In my opinion, it’s the best piece to pull together that polished look.

1901 blazer at Nordstrom

1901 Blazer//1901 Tee//Liverpool Denim//Sanctuary plaid shirt//Sam Edelman boots//Stella & Dot Amour Disc necklace/charm//

Makeup by EVERskin: Out-the-door palette//Forever long wear lip in Crush//Flash lip gloss in Rose//whiplash mascara

I love the color combination of light blue and orange, but in the end it may be too bright for me. The jacket comes in navy as well. This is the double breasted style, but there are single breasted styles available too including that lovely pink one I showed last week. And in case you haven’t checked out 1901, it’s a Nordstrom store brand (like Halogen and Caslon) that is affordable. It has been in the men’s department for years. They started out with just a few things for women last year and the line continues to grow! It’s located in the Point of View department. I like it more all the time.

LOOK #2:

Caslon and Sanctuary at nordstrom

Topped off the Sanctuary plaid shirt with a Caslon Sweater  There’s nothing like yellow to “scream spring”. I liked this color combo but wasn’t sure about the fit of the sweater on me. Loved everything else about it.

LOOK #3:

Gibson Blazer//Stella & Dot Corset necklace//Stella & Dot Amour Drop Pendant// charms//similar white tee

If you’re seeing a pattern with the blazers, yes I’m a big fan of a jacket with a lining so you can roll the sleeves. 1. I have very short arms. 2. I like the look of the contrasting lining and how it adds interest. I realized that black is not very springy but it comes in other colors: The cream was my favorite but they didn’t have my size at the store.

Then I headed to The Nordstrom Rack. I’ve been looking for a houndstooth jacket for months. This wasn’t exactly what I had in mind but I really liked it! It’s BCBGeneration and it has a removable hood which as I mentioned it the last post started becoming popular last year. I can’t wait to pair this with bright colored tees (pink, cobalt blue, green, red to name a few things.) If you like it, purchase quickly as you know how quickly things disappear at The Rack!

More spring styles coming in the next post! What do you have your eye on for spring?
