How to Beat the Winter Wardrobe “Blahs”

January and February used to be one of the most difficult times to work retail. We were all tired of looking at the racks of the SAME clothes. We just wanted something fresh. January and February can be some of the hardest months to choose clothes from your own closet each day. It’s easy to get tired of your wardrobe this time of the year. I call it the “winter wardrobe blahs” Depending where you live, you may have a few months before the cold weather is gone. It’s important to do something to perk things up!

I wrote a post last year about transitioning into spring and the premise of that is really adding color. Try the same tactic for the winter months.

Add a sweater or coat in a bright color.

The stores are so full of sales now including brighter spring colors. If you live in an area where there is snow until March, add a wool coat in a bright color. Here are some suggestions for you in the widget below.

Refresh your jewelry.

Sometimes a few new pieces of jewelry can make such a difference. There is nothing like a little sparkle or color to brighten all the black and gray. Here are a few favorites from Stella & Dot. The first photo grid features new releases, the second is a combination of clothing and jewelry all on sale presently with a “Buy More, Save More” deal going through the weekend. You can save an additional 20- 40% off when purchasing already discounted merchandise!

Switch handbags.

You know from previous posts that I’m a firm believe in switching handbags (NOT with every outfit) but every few months to space out the wear. One of my favorite cross-body bags is starting to show wear and finding a similar one will be a challenge. It’s time to put it aside for a while. The widget below features bags from the Nordstrom Rack. There are various price points including leather or faux leather choices. I found  small cross body options that can brighten up a going out ensemble as well as wallets, card wallets and bag and tote styles.

Need other ideas to beat the “blahs” this time of year? Tweaking your hair style or makeup are other suggestions. I will make a goal to re-do my makeup post (the one that was deleted) for spring AND finally tackle the hairstyles post.
