Flattering Denim Styles

I’ve added a new category to the SHOP page: Denim. As I was telling one client recently, completing the Shop Pages is time consuming because I want to make sure I’m recommending a variety of styles, price points that will flatter many body types. In addition, I don’t want the styles to sell soon after I publish.

And I couldn’t do a post on denim without “walking down memory lane” and showing this Saturday Night Live skit: Mom Jeans. It had been a while since I’ve seen it; it always makes me laugh.

Here is a breakdown on some of the labels before you go to the page. Nordstrom offers price matching with other retailers FREQUENTLY on denim.

Kut from the Kloth: These have been around for the last decade and are still a top favorite among women of all ages. Most of their styles were a mid-rise, but they’ve added a few high rise options. If this is one of your favorites, click around to see the other KUT styles as I’ve included just a few.

Liverpool: I’ve written about this brand before and it honestly has become one of my favorites.

Madewell: I really started promoting these last fall. They are affordable and stylish. If you don’t like the high-rise button front, there are other options.

NYDJ: Not Your Daughter’s Jeans were the first label to really add high rise when most everyone else had a lower to mid-rise. They have had a boot-cut and straight cut for years. They have added skinnier cuts, styles with distressing to stay current with other brands.

Lots of extended size choices with Kut and NYDJ.

PREMIUM DENIM:

It’s a high price point. Some women swear by the higher end labels, others have a hard time paying the premium price for a pair of denim. I like it all, but try to get premium denim on sale or price matched.

Paige: It will probably always be my favorite. The transcend fabric introduced a few years ago really holds its shape. So much variety in rise, wash and style.

AG: I only have had one pair in the past, but last year I added another in a black wash and they have become a “go-to” pair.

J Brand and Rag & Bone. I wore out a pair of J Brand and currently have a pair of Rag & Bone that I wish I had in multiples. That says a lot!

The list goes on with Hudson, Citizen, Frame although none made the Shop page.

Do you have a favorite brand I missed?
